Birth Announcement

No, no, no, not to you, dear reader, since that announcement has already been made. But the paper announcement that we shall send to family and close friends, with the pictures we hope they will want to keep and look at. Card making is perhaps my favorite creative outlet, so this has been a struggle and a joy - a struggle to find a few moments when I have the peace and quiet to create (without baby in arm), and a joy as I have found those moments and have created the card. Now it is just left to pick Sage's picture for the cover and print my heart out. I went a bit nuts for the interior, but, especially if this is our last baby (did I say If?), it will be worth it!
I'll try to figure out how to post this - I created it in publisher, and they don't allow saving things as jpg's...

THANK YOU, EASTER BUNNY

At last, a photo of the Debbie Bliss bunny that I made for a friend’s niece. I’ve had fun making these little bunnies – one for Siena, one for each of two cousins kids, and now one for her. It is supposed to have a little sweater to hide all the seams, but for Easter, this spiffy dress and hair ribbon seemed more appropriate (and faster).
The gilded eggs in the basket are the work of artist friends on Bowen – David and Holly Graff. These eggs are lovely, but don't even hint at the incredible beauty that they create, both in "art" and "usable art" (beautiful bowls and candlesticks, etc.). Check them out!

PROJECTS IN PIECES

So it goes. Sage is now almost four weeks old, and yet I am still slow in taking up old projects. But I am also struggling with that feeling of "got to do more than eat, sleep and poop" like a four week old. So here is where we are at these days: projects in pieces.

First up, a long overdue Monkey by Debbie Bliss (mentioned over a month ago as almost completed). Still in pieces, but a few more - everything but the ears is knit, and mostly assembled. I had intended to make this for my son (who we called a monkey for a long time), but I think it will be loved more by our friends new son, Paul. He was born just six weeks before Sage, and they will be good friends. She’ll get her own stuffy another time.

For now, her project is a Debbie Bliss Raglan Sweater, from one of her beginner books. I’ve knit at least five of these now, and that has inspired probably another dozen from local knitters on Bowen. I hope to make one for Sage and a matching one for 3.5 year old Siena. Then I’d love to make me an hourglass sweater (Last Minute Knitted Gifts) to match… we’ll see. So far, this is all we’ve managed to do: ball the yarn.

And then there is Sage and all the goodies we can make for and around her. Here is the beginning of thank you cards for all the beautiful and thoughtful things we’ve been given. I had a huge plan of gluing and punching and using doo-dads, but in the end, I think we’ll just use the computer print out that takes a lot less energy and time away from actually spending with Sage. I guess the older kids will enjoy all the tags I’d already punched and stamped.

Finally, without even a picture, is Sage’s birth announcement. More on this later.

Fallen off the face of the blog-earth

It's amazing - babe number three has taken us off the charts. She is lovely - and easy to be with. So easy, that we just want to be with her, and thus have not had time (or inclination) to keep in touch, either with our emails or blogworlds. I have a list of about ten blog topics to work on, but that will have to wait a bit. I'm too busy gazing into the eyes of the future over here.
